$616,000 donated to charities to support people and animals

The Petspiration Foundation shares over $600,000 to charities to make their wishes come true

The Petspiration Foundation has donated $616,000 to seven partner charities across Australia to support people and animals, as part of the fulfillment of the Petspiration Foundation Christmas Project campaign, in an effort to empower a better future for pets and people.

The Petspiration Foundation’s Charity and Events Lead, Sherralea Cassidy, says that the funds raised will make a huge impact for each of these charity partners, with each partner selected due to their alignment with the Foundation’s objectives.

Sherralea says, “at the Petspiration Foundation, everything we do ties in to giving back to the charities that need it the most. Inspired by the unconditional love of pets, the Foundation is committed to helping pets and people to live better, and through our 2022 Christmas Project campaign, we’ve been able to support these incredible organisations across the country to continue to deliver services that support and advocate for pets and people to live better lives.”

The seven charities that are the benefactors of $88,000 each as part of the Christmas Project campaign are:

✔️ Pets of The Homeless (VIC)
✔️ Cowboys 4 Kids (NSW)
✔️ HorsePower Australia (WA)
✔️ Smart Pups Assistance Dogs (QLD)
✔️ Pegasus Riding for the Disabled (RDA) (ACT)
✔️ Riding for the Disabled Tasmania (TAS)
✔️ Safe Pets Safe Families (SA)

The funds are being used by the respective partner charities in many ways to support families and animals alike.

Pets of the Homeless Founder and CEO, Yvonne Hong, says that the donation from the Petspiration Foundation has enabled the organisation to purchase two new vehicles, saying “with this significant donation, we’ve been able to purchase a car and a van that will allow Pets of the Homeless to safely and efficiently transport more animals into care, and ultimately improve the happiness of homeless pet owners.”

Smart Pups Assistance Dogs in Queensland have used their funds to buy three new puppies, Echo, Earl, and Faith (pictured below, with trainer Simon Burrow), for the purpose of raising and training them into fully certified assistance dogs for children with special needs.

Smart Pups founder, Patricia McAlister says, "Every child living with a diagnosed special need such as autism, seizures, mobility, and diabetes-related syndromes deserves easy access to and the support of a companion animal, like these wonderful new pups!"

Meanwhile, Pegasus Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Tasmania has been able to utilise the funds to provide services to people of all ages with disabilities to enable them to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic, horse-related activities.

RDA Tasmania Executive Officer, Claudia Nevah, says “the funds have already been put to work to increase volunteer, horse and coach numbers to create more spots for people with disabilities and special needs, in particular towards attracting more coaches and creating a coaching package.”

Other ways the donations are making an impact include:

✔️
Securing a location for the Safe Pets Safe Families Pet Food Bank (Fill Their Bowl Project).

✔️ Cowboys 4 Kids have been able to put the funds towards organising holiday equine camp programs for foster children.

The Petspiration Foundation will continue to raise funds for their charity partners and projects, with key fundraising initiatives across the year planned.

Petspiration Foundation ambassador, animal welfare advocate and media personality Jacqueline Felgate (left) was proud to share in the great news of achieving huge fundraising targets that allow for these charity partners to use the $88,000 to support their causes.

Jacqui says, “by partnering with these aligned charities, and donating such a significant amount, the Petspiration Foundation is able to see an incredible impact to these charities right across the country, which enables more people and pets to live their best lives.”
