Would you like an adoptable dog with your takeaway?

Would you like to adopt or foster a dog in addition to your order of pizza and burgers?

With many national animal shelters closing due to COVID-19, in community spirit, The Social Dog Company along with ten other businesses have commenced a community initiative to shine a spotlight on dog adoption through attaching flyers of shelter dogs to all food and beverage takeaway and delivery orders.

Founder of The Social Dog Company, Tatum Brown initiated the concept after her dog-orientated event business, that raises funds and awareness for local rescues came to a standstill due to the devastating pandemic.

“At a time when shelters are closing, facility staff being laid-off, and volunteers restricted, our four-legged friends are experiencing extreme isolation and could remain homeless for longer periods of time. In addition, dogs in need of surrendering have nowhere to be placed", says Tatum.

Trecento Restaurant (Canberra) is also
 proudly supporting this initiative
“Getting creative during hard times and taking advantage of the newly enforced takeaway/delivery model, I contacted local businesses asking if they would be on board with this initiative.

In no time, seven businesses had jumped on board in both Sydney and Canberra, the first being Mexican restaurant Bondi Rumba's owner Adrian (lead image).

Adrian says that "I have been focusing on all the positives that have come out of this pandemic. Although we are socially distancing, I have never felt so connected to my community,
supporting each other wherever we can.

Whether that's promoting an amazing cause like dog adoption through the The Social Dog Company or keeping your favourite local businesses alive by visiting or calling directly. We are all in this together!".

In Canberra, restaurants already taking part include Beef & Barley and Trecento Restaurant. In Sydney, you can order from Bondi Rumba (local Mexican restaurant) and Eden Bondi for delicious vegan meals.

Rolling out this initiative nationally, The Social Dog Company encourages local businesses wanting to participate to contact the team by emailing socialdogco@outlook.com
