Agility Dog Club of SA will host the club's 30th Anniversary Agility and Jumping Trials featuring a full day of competition at their grounds at Golflands Reserve at Glenelg North with the event starting at 9am. This Saturday 1st October the Agility Dog Club of SA hosts their 30th Anniversary event featuring over 350 entries with a wide variety of dog breeds and handlers of all ages in the sport which features handlers guiding their dogs around courses of various skill levels and featuring jumps, tunnels and crowd favourite weaving poles.
At the recent Royal Adelaide Show the dog agility drew such interest from show attendees that crowd numbers trying to access the dog venue had to be controlled when venue capacity was reached.
Saturday’s event is free to attend and watch the action and there is onsite catering available.
Dog agility is a sport suitable for most breeds with canines as small as Pugs and Jack Russell Terriers right up to large breeds such as Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Collies and Labradors plus working breeds such as Kelpies, Border Collies and Australian Shepherds.
Handlers can be any age with everyone from teenagers to seniors taking part with the majority involved in SA being women over 40 from a range of backgrounds with many taking up agility after no longer being able to be actively part of other high intensity sports such as netball, football, hockey, athletics or equestrian but want to stay active.
Action starts on the day at 9am and should run through until 4pm and if any spectators are interested in looking to join a club and start training there will be information available at the event.
