Tasty Mother Puppers DIY Dog Cupcakes & Biscuits

Early August, we received an email from Amy & Lyndon, a young couple of enterprising dog lovers from Victoria. Like so many people, they suddenly lost what work they had at the beginning of 2020 in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.

They found themselves with a lot of time to sit around the house to think about what they really wanted to do whilst searching online for jobs.

Starting their own business Tasty Mother Puppers had always been a dream and their new venture combines two of their greatest passions: dogs and healthy, delicious food!

They found there was an abundance of providers offering the same (boring) meat-based biscuits, meat jerkies, bones and dental chews but discovered a gap in the market when it came to delicious human-grade dog cakes and biscuits.

With our Malinois Aramis fifth Gotcha Day celebrations coming up, this was the perfect time for our dogs to sample their range and share their (our) impressions with other dog lovers.

The Doggy Biccies

The Tasty Mother Puppers range includes three choices of doggy biscuits to tempt your furry mates' taste buds.

We know that our dogs should never eat chocolate but most love the taste of peanut butter and carob, which is why the 'mutts choccy nuts' (chick pea flour, carob, egg, olive oil, peanut butter & water) is certain to be a crowd-pleaser!

The 'unbe-leaf-able' variety will appeal to those looking for a grain-free, vegan option. The ingredients include: chick pea flour, carrot, apple puree, parsley, spinach, turmeric & olive oil. Even though our dogs are meat lovers, these biscuits appeared to be their favourite.

Each pack contains ten bone-shaped small biscuits (well, one bite for our pack!).

As it says on the biccies, these are very tasty and they quickly disappeared in one bite!

The most popular variety in their online store is the 'appley & cheddar' option which contains chick pea flour, oats, cheese, apple puree, olive oil & water.

All Tasty Mother Puppers treats are handmade with no preservatives so with warmer days upon us, remember to keep your dog biscuits in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Once open, we recommend keeping your treats in the fridge.

DIY Doggy Cupcakes

With many of us in lockdown and minimising our outings, we find ourselves with a lot of extra time on our hands this year...

Baking treats for our dogs is always fun but if you lack confidence in the kitchen and want to make it easier for yourself, Tasty Mother Puppers have come up with the DIY doggy cupcakes, perfect for your next dog birthday party!

We had not baked for our dogs for at least a couple of years so this DIY option - all ingredients pre-packed and with an easy card recipe - made our task a lot easier and fun!

We received the 'oat my goodness!' variety pack (apple, oats & honey) which includes:

✔️ dry mixed ingredients (almond flour, baking powder, dried apple, honey, oats, cinnamon)
✔️ wet ingredients (liquid honey)
✔️ topper (roasted oats)
✔️ 6 cupcake liners, 1 birthday candle

All we add to do is add one egg, some oil (coconut oil is recommended; as we did not have any we simply used extra virgin olive oil) and a half cup of water.
After barely 15 minutes, our pupcakes came out of the oven beautifully golden on top and smelling delicious enough for us to eat! Our normally fussy cat was keen enough to jump on the table to have a good sniff and our party girl Aramis was also dying to get stuck in...

According to our dogs, these delicious pupcakes are best eaten fresh on the day they are made.

Tasty Mother Puppers DIY dog cupcakes are also available in two other flavours: 'bad to the bone-nana' and 'bitchin' squash' (pumpkin & maple syrup) - a great choice for Halloween celebrations!

Price & Where to Buy:

RRP: $15.00 (doggy biccies); $20.00 (DIY dog cupcakes)
