Dog registration is easier than ever with pet owners across NSW now able to pay the once only lifetime registration fee through Service NSW.
The convenient service allows pet owners to register their pet and pay the registration fee over the counter at nearly 100 Service NSW centres around NSW, or online using their MyServiceNSW Account.
In addition to Service NSW, dog and cat owners can register their animals at their local council, Animal Welfare League, Cat Protection Society or online through the NSW Pet Registry.
Along with microchipping and de-sexing, lifetime registration is a key part of being a responsible pet owner.
In NSW it is a requirement for all cats and dogs to be microchipped and placed on the NSW Pet Registry by the time they reach 12 weeks of age, or prior to sale, whichever comes first.
In NSW pet owners must pay the one-off registration fee if the animal is aged six months or older.
Discounted registration fees apply to de-sexed cats and dogs. Having dogs desexed helps to reduce straying, fighting, aggression and antisocial behaviour.

Pet registration fees go straight back into the community by funding council pounds/shelters, ranger services, dog recreation areas and education and awareness activities.
The NSW Pet Registry (www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au) lets pet owners update their contact details, report their pet missing, transfer ownership and pay lifetime registration fees all from a computer or mobile device.
