Moonee Beach Doggy Date Night a Barking Success!

It was a dog’s life at Reflections Holiday Parks Moonee Beach with the park’s inaugural ‘Doggy Date Night’ attracting over 100 visitors with their canine companions and raising more than $2,000 to support the RSPCA service at Coffs Harbour.

The community event, held on Saturday 15th September in conjunction with RSPCA NSW, raised a total of $2,196 after local business, Sawtell Kitchen Centre, generously matched monies raised. The local Rural Fire Service was also on hand with a sausage sizzle to raise funds for NSW Farmers doing it tough.

Park Manager Kelly Shaw said the community event received much positive feedback and plans were in the pipeline to make the popular initiative an annual event.

“It’s hard to describe how amazing the atmosphere was with dogs of all shapes and sizes joining in the festivities,” Ms Shaw said.

“There were generous prizes from local businesses raffled, delicacies provided by local food vendors, face painting, an inflatable slide and an open-air cinema with fresh buttered popcorn on offer. What more could you want on a date at our park?

“Families walking up to the headlands from the park were also treated with the magical site of Moonee Beach’s famous fireflies which light the way for a few weeks every September.
“I’ve managed the park for a few years now and even I took time out at dusk to visit these amazing creatures.”

RSPCA NSW Senior Manager Eliza Walker said park managers Mark and Kelly Shaw were the perfect hosts for the event and did their dog-friendly park proud.

“I also want to thank our volunteers, the crew from the RFS and the local businesses who all came together to help raise funds for RSPCA Coffs Harbour and the NSW farmers,” Ms Walker said. “Of course, the event wouldn’t have been a success without local families and animal lovers lending their support, and we thank everyone who participated.”

There are 28 dog-friendly Reflections Holiday Parks.

About Reflections Holiday Parks

Reflections manages the operations of 37 holiday parks and community reserves on Crown land throughout NSW. Formed in 2013 to consolidate the operations of 28 coastal and nine inland holiday parks and reserves located on Crown land throughout NSW, the Group incorporated three holiday park brands, (North Coast Holiday Parks, South Coast Holiday Parks and Inland Waters Holiday Parks), under its corporate banner, Crown Holiday Parks.

Rebranded to Reflections Holiday Parks in February 2018, the Group brings its 37 holiday and community parks on Crown land under the one unified banner. The group is a not-for-profit organisation and reinvests its surplus funds across all its holiday and community parks, so visitors and regional communities can keep enjoying these pristine locations. The vision of Reflections Holiday Parks is to inspire all who visit.
