More than a fashion statement, these luxury leads are crafted as a heartfelt promise, honouring pets as family and celebrating the love and loyalty that define these relationships.
A popular activity at the event was the Puppy Cup Rescue Race, featuring adoptable dogs from Dog Rescue Newcastle and Animal Rescue Sydney.

This kinder twist on traditional racing brought out the best in our furry friends, with guests playfully “betting” on which rescue dog would find a forever home first.
The crowd-favourite, Digby the Cavoodle, won hearts across the room and found a prospective new family to call his own.
Guests enjoyed a live “paw-trait” experience from renowned artist Charles Billich, who captured pets in exquisite detail, creating meaningful keepsakes for their owners.

The ambiance was set with harp music flowing through the candlelit courtyard, adding to the luxury and charm of the evening, while specially crafted canapés for humans and pets alike made for an inclusive celebration of love and connection.
The Puppy Cup was not just an event — it was a pledge of support for pets and their well-being, a beautiful demonstration of how fashion, art, and advocacy can unite for a meaningful cause.

A powerful moment of the evening was a talk by Emma Hurst, Member of Parliament with the Animal Justice Party, who spoke passionately about her ongoing efforts to ban puppy farms, reduce the harsh impacts of horse racing, and prevent the needless deaths of unwanted animals.
She is a pioneer in animal welfare having achieved remarkable milestones in the fight for animal rights. Her ground-breaking work includes:
- Securing mandatory lifetime bans for individuals convicted of serious animal abuse.
- Outlawing the practice of convenience killing in pounds.
- Banning the production, possession, and distribution of bestiality and animal crush videos.
- Influencing legal changes to recognise the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence.
- Ensuring that animals are included in Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs).
- Obtaining funding for refuges to build facilities that can house animals escaping domestic violence.
- Securing interim animal bans for abusers while legal proceedings are ongoing.
- Preventing by-laws that ban animals in strata complexes.
- Passing numerous motions on critical animal welfare issues, including calls for a ban on puppy farming, support for immuno-contraceptive darting trials for horses in Kosciuszko National Park, condemnation of the fur industry, opposition to the Agriculture Minister’s refusal to ban battery cages, calls for a review of animal hoarding laws, and advocating for increased funding for emergency animal assistance.
Pound Paws is grateful to everyone who attended and supported our mission of finding loving homes for pets in need. Thank you for helping us make a difference, one paw at a time.
