Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Summer Family Day - January 20

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT hosts fun-filled activity day for families living with low vision or blindness in Illawarra

This Friday 20th January 2023, people living with low vision or blindness, and their families, will participate in Illawarra Summer Family Day, an event organised by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.

With fun, outdoor activities designed to involve the whole family, including stand-up paddle boarding, GPS mapping and a treasure hunt, the event provides an opportunity for families in the Illawarra community with shared experiences to connect.

It also aims to help those living with low vision or blindness build self-confidence and independent mobility skills in an enjoyable and interactive environment.

A highlight of the day will include Guide Dog trial walks and a Therapy Dog experience for Clients considering introducing a canine companion into their life, now or into the future.

Attendees will hear from a range of guest speakers on the day including local Client, Karlee Symonds, and Guide Dogs staff to learn more about the Guide Dog experience and the benefits of Guide Dogs’ services.

The day has been arranged with the assistance and generous support of community partners SUP Shellharbour.

When: Friday 20th January 2023, from 9:30am to 2:30pm

Where: Lake Illawarra, Reddall Reserve, Reddall Parade (near kiosk on the South Eastern side of Windang Bridge).
