On Saturday 24 August, Paws at the Park is back for their 8th doggie market event. Now in its fourth year, Paws at the Park is Australia’s largest free dog market event. It has grown to have over 100 dog-centric stalls, attracts 10,000 dog lovers and has raised over $20,000 for the Animal Welfare League of Qld.
This August’s event will also be the official 60th anniversary celebration for Animal Welfare League QLD (AWLQ).
Paws at the Park has been fully booked out in early July, with a fantastic line-up of over 100 dog business stalls due to hit the market event, held at Mudgeeraba Showgrounds.
The cocreators Jenna Schroeder and Lia Ferguson were thrilled to win the recent Community Group and People’s Choice Awards in the recent Pet Products and Services Awards, which were awarded for their work running the event.

You can browse stalls with everything from accessories and treats to natural therapies, organic food and of course doggie ice-cream - Jenna's latest business venture is Hugo's Ice Creamery.
“This is going to be our biggest event ever” said Jenna, one of the two Gold Coast women running the event, “the Gold Coast now has 66,000 dogs living here - and we love putting this event on for them and their owners”
Lia, the other half of the duo continues “We’re also so excited that our August markets have been selected to be the official 60th anniversary celebration of our charity partner Animal Welfare League QLD (AWLQ)!” She continues, “AWLQ have saved the lives of over 130,000 animals in those 60 years and we couldn’t be more thrilled be partnered with them”.
Some attractions at this August’s event include:
• A stage with talks, including an industry panel on dog nutrition
• Best Dressed Big Dog and Best Dressed Small Dog competitions
• Demonstrations including agility and training
• Activity tent where you can make your own toy (fundraiser)
• An off-lead area separated for big and small dogs

If that wasn’t exciting enough for the Gold Coast’s dog community, Paws at the Park is moving their Brisbane Christmas event ‘Santa Paws at the Park’ to the Gold Coast on 16 November. The Christmas themed dog markets are complete with professional Santa photos and a husky drawn sleigh kicking the markets off. The Christmas market is to be held at Country Paradise Parklands.
