With an estimated 400,000 animals abandoned every year in Australia, animal lovers are being called upon to express their true feelings and save a pet’s life on Saturday, September 15.
Taree Pet Barn will be hosting a Save A Life Day on Saturday, September 15 from 9am – 1pm. The idea is the brainchild of national independent pet store chain Just For Pets, teaming up with their member stores like Taree Pet Barn, and associated rescues.
“Save a Life Day is your chance to adopt an animal that desperately needs a home.
We will have puppies and dogs from our friends at Paws Crossed, and cats from our friends at Purrfect Match.”
Save a Life Day is important because:
- Animals can spend up to two years waiting in animal refuges because pet lovers don’t often come face to face with them. Making an animal visible is the key to re-housing and adoption.
- It raises awareness of the importance of pets in our lives. Pet ownership brings with it many health benefits including more physical exercise, less anxiety and stress, and lessons for children (and sometimes even adults!) on responsibility and empathy.
- It provides an opportunity to fundraise for pets in need. “There will be a cake stall, a BBQ, raffles and more with money being raised going back into local animal shelters.”
All dogs and cats up for adoption have been vaccinated, microchipped, and de-sexed.
