Pound Paws Dog Day Golden Sheaf - August 31

Glamour Meets Good: Celebrating Rescue Dogs and Saving Lives in Style

The Golden Sheaf and Pound Paws invite Sydneysiders (and their four-legged companions) to join in the fun for the highly anticipated return of Pound Paws Dog Day in Double Bay on Sunday 31st August 2025

Running from 12–4PM, this much-loved event is a celebration of rescue dogs and responsible pet ownership—set in one of Sydney’s most iconic dog-friendly venues.

As seen on The Morning Show, The Living Room, and other leading media outlets, Pound Paws Dog Day is more than just a social event — it’s a movement. With the additional support of Woollahra Council, Vet HQ and InnoVet Animal Health (Dog Treats), this family-friendly afternoon aims to raise awareness around pet adoption, while spoiling our furry companions with treats, glam, and unforgettable memories.

What to Expect at Pound Paws Dog Day

Guests can look forward to a jam-packed afternoon of entertainment, education, and four-legged fun. The event kicks off at 12PM sharp with glamorous Red Carpet “Paw-parazzi” Arrivals, where pups will strut their stuff alongside sports cars and flashing cameras.

Families will have the opportunity to meet adoptable rescue dogs from local NSW shelters, and enjoy a celebrity meet & greet with the iconic Valerie the Dachshund — making her first public appearance after being missing for 540 days on Kangaroo Island, as the new ambassador for The Paws Room.

The afternoon will also feature Pup Paw-traits with luxury sports cars, and pet market stalls showcasing boutique pet brands and artisan makers. Guests can treat their pups to doggie donut bubble tastings, indulge in a specially curated doggie dining menu with “paw-tinis”, and secure a VIP experience by reserving a premium dog-friendly table. Book here.

For those ready to show off their pup’s personality, the Best Trick and Costume Competitions will be judged by a VIP panel featuring Martine Chippendale (Real Housewives of Sydney), Elle Salagaras (TikTok influencer @elle_easternsuburbsmum), Dr. Geoff Golovsky (Vet HQ), Councillor Alexander Andruska, and Valerie the Dachshund.
All the while, live music and entertainment will keep the good vibes flowing throughout the day.

Children aged 4 and up are invited to take part in the Puppy Adoption Playdate Workshop, hosted in partnership with Pound Paws and Vet HQ, where they’ll adopt their very own plush puppy and learn the basics of responsible pet care. Think Build-a-Bear, but with a pet adoption twist. Designed to educate and inspire a new generation of animal lovers.

Registration for this workshop can be accessed here
“For 10 years, Pound Paws has been on a mission to make pet adoption more accessible and understood across Australia,” says Brittany Bloomer, Founder of Pound Paws.

“Through our Dog Day events, we’ve found that the best way to create real impact is by engaging the community in a fun, memorable way. These events not only help rescue dogs find loving homes—they also educate, connect, and inspire.”

We look forward to seeing you at this free community event.
