Park Hyatt Melbourne is delighted to welcome Charlie, the new resident canine, as he officially takes his place at the hotel.
The six-and-a-half-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, known for his playful spirit and affectionate nature, will carry on the legacy of Mr. Walker, the beloved former canine companion who recently retired.
Born in San Diego, California, Charlie—whose full name is Crescendo Charlie — comes from a distinguished lineage and has been a cherished family member of the hotel’s General Manager, Oliver Kahf since he was just eight weeks old.
With his signature angel wing markings on his shoulders and ever-wagging tail, Charlie is sure to bring smiles to guests and colleagues alike.
Charlie’s arrival was marked by a special welcome event attended by Guide Dogs Victoria, continuing the longstanding collaboration established during Mr. Walker’s time at the hotel.

As part of the event, Guide Dogs Victoria brought along four of their wonderful dogs — Keith, Delphie, Gizmo, and Millie — who delighted guests with their presence and demonstrated the incredible work that guide dogs do in the community.
Mr. Walker, the hotel's much-loved former canine companion, was present at the Welcome Event, symbolising the passing of the torch.
Unlike Mr. Walker, Charlie does not have a set visitation time - he will be more focused on guest engagement and companionship, bringing his playful and affectionate energy to the hotel.
While Charlie is not a working guide dog, he shares the same friendly, well-mannered disposition, having graduated from the “Good Citizen” training program in California.
His presence will continue to make the hotel a welcoming and warm environment for all.
A natural socialite, Charlie thrives on making new friends. His favourite activities include playing with his squeaky ball, swimming, and charming guests with his affectionate nature—especially if treats are involved. Guests may spot him exploring the hotel, greeting visitors, or even striking a pose for the perfect social media moment.
