Doggy Grub launches new Fish Casserole

Doggy Grub Adds New Fish Casserole to Its Healthy Dog Meal Line-up

Doggy Grub, an Australian company transforming dog nutrition since 2016 with fresh, human-grade meals, is expanding its range with the launch of a brand-new Fish Casserole. This recipe joins their two existing popular varieties — Chicken and Kangaroo casseroles —and brings a nutritious option to dogs’ bowls.

To kick off this exciting launch, Doggy Grub has turned to Kickstarter, inviting dog owners to be part of the journey from the beginning and giving backers the chance to access the new meal before anyone else. Supporters will play a key role in helping bring this nutritious recipe to market.

The story behind Doggy Grub

At the heart of Doggy Grub lies a simple philosophy: dogs deserve fresh, healthy, and natural food, just like their humans. It all started with Betty the rescue, an overweight Labrador in need of TLC. “We’ve always been foodies at heart,” says co-founder Lachlan, reflecting on how the business came about. “It only made sense for us to share that passion with our dog. After switching Betty to a home-cooked diet, the changes were almost immediate. We saw first-hand how fresh food changed her—her digestion became regular, her coat turned glossy, and she even lost that typical ‘dog smell.”

This experience convinced the husband-and-wife duo that every dog could benefit from real, wholesome food.

Born out of a love for both good food and good health, Doggy Grub offers a unique approach to dog nutrition. All their meals use 100% human-grade ingredients and produced in a human-grade facility in Australia, a choice that reflects their dedication to overseeing quality and using the best ingredients. “It wasn’t about developing another commercial, highly processed dog food—this was about changing the way we think about feeding our pets.” Lachlan explains.

Innovative Packaging for Convenience and Freshness

What truly sets Doggy Grub apart in the fresh pet food market is their innovative approach to packaging.

Unlike most fresh dog food, which needs to be refrigerated, or frozen, Doggy Grub’s meals are shelf-stable, 100% preservative-free, and are made to be stored in the pantry.

“One of the biggest challenges we noticed with fresh food was the hassle of always having to defrost or refrigerate meals,” explains co-founder Candice. “We wanted to make life easier for pet parents. With our shelf-stable packs, you don’t have to worry about fridge space or thawing meals, and you can take your dog’s food anywhere—on road trips, camping, or even just to the park.”

Doggy Grub’s customers have seen the benefits of fresh meals for their pets. One happy customer shared, “Our dog has been fussy for years, but Doggy Grub changed everything. She eats every last bit, and her coat is shinier than ever.” Another praised the convenience of shelf-stable packs, noting, “I love that it doesn’t need to be refrigerated—makes feeding time so easy without sacrificing quality.”

Single-Protein Meals Packed with Nutrition

Doggy Grub meals have been developed alongside vets and pet nutritionists. They follow AAFCO standards and are suitable to dogs throughout every stage of life.

Each recipe is single protein, ensuring that dogs with sensitivities or specific dietary needs are catered to. Every meal contains 60% human-grade meat, with protein being the first ingredient, giving vital nutrients dogs need for energy, muscle growth, and overall wellness.

Fish Casserole: A New Nutritious Recipe for Dogs

The new Fish Casserole is made with a mix of sustainably sourced fish, like carp, alongside salmon, sardines, and nutrient-packed veggies and superfoods such as pumpkin, carrots, corn, seaweed, and blueberries. By using a novel protein like carp, the recipe is specifically designed to support dogs with food sensitivities and allergies.

Co-founder Candice explains their decision to use carp as a main ingredient: “There’s a common misconception that carp is a muddy fish, but it’s actually a lean source of protein packed with Omega-3s. Plus, it’s a sustainable choice since overpopulation of carp fish has devastating consequences to our Australian waterways.”

Nutritious Meals for Every Dog

Alongside the new Fish Casserole, Doggy Grub’s Chicken and Kangaroo casseroles remain customer favourites. Both casseroles are cooked with natural ingredients, with no artificial flavour, colours or synthetic vitamins and minerals.

“We wanted to make sure we had something for every dog,” says Lachlan. “Whether it’s a classic chicken recipe or a novel protein like kangaroo or carp, our goal is to deliver meals that are both healthy and tasty, and made with ingredients that any pet owner can feel good about.”

All three meals are offered in 150g or 400g casseroles to suit small, medium and large dogs, making it easy to portion control.

Superblends and Treats: A Natural Extension

Alongside its fresh meals, Doggy Grub offers a line of Superblends called Grinkles, which are easy-to-use toppers that add extra nutrients and health benefits to any dog’s meal. From the Healthy Chompers dental blend to the Grinkles for Wrinkles senior blend, these toppers are a natural extension of the Doggy Grub range.

Doggy Grub also offers a choice of 100% natural treats, including long-lasting chews that support dental health, ensuring that dogs can enjoy a healthy diet from meals to snacks.

“Dental health is super important” Lachlan says, “and we always encourage pet owners to have a dental plan - whether that’s brushing their dog’s teeth or feeding quality food and chews”.
