Celebrate Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day with a gift that eternalises your canine friend The growing trend towards humanising our companion animals or fur kids, coupled with increased consumer spending on pet care services are the major growth drivers of the global pet industry—currently valued at $261 billion.
Pets are nowadays considered members of a family unit. They go on holidays with their pet parents, attend daycare, have elaborate grooming routines that include spa days, own individual social media accounts and some even have life insurance plans.
There is not a lot of information regarding this as most vet clinics will only offer you burial or cremation packages.
You will need to carry out your own research.
Pet memorial diamonds enable pet parents to create a lasting legacy for a fur baby that crossed over the rainbow bridge by transforming their cremated remains into an eternal keepsake.
Over the Rainbow Bridge: a pet is never truly forgotten until it is no longer remembered...
August 28 is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day!
The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of several works written in the 1980s and 1990s that speak of another worldly place where pets go upon death, eventually to be reunited with their owners.
To start the transformation process, your pet’s ashes or fur are first analysed to determine whether they contain enough carbon to be turned into a diamond. The carbon content of ashes differs from case to case, and the total contained carbon may or may not be enough for LONITÉ’s diamond creation process. In this case, a supplementary carbon source (like your hair) is used.
Next, a special treatment is applied to the fur or ashes in order to preserve the carbon during the extraction of unstable chemicals by an impurity remover.
The purified material is then heated to extreme temperatures in order to eliminate volatile impurities. At this step, oxygen is removed and inert, protective and reducing gases are injected to protect the ashes or fur from oxidation.
The carbon from the cremated ashes or fur is placed in a wet chemical environment so as to increase purity by removing heavy metals. At the end of this final purification step, the carbon purity is as high as 99.99% (4N Purity). If this is not the case, additional customized purification steps are implemented to remove the specific remaining impurities.
The purified, extracted carbon is converted into flake graphite in form of a cylinder and then placed into a diamond synthesis machine. The transformation from ashes to a pet memorial diamond takes anywhere between 3 to 12 months, depending on the gem’s features.
Rough memorial diamonds are usually mixed with graphite and other materials, particularly on the surface. You can request to have this delivered as is or opt for the gem to be cut, polished and set in jewellery such as rings, pendants or earrings. You may pick the diamond’s final colour, cut and carat according to the characteristics that best represent your pet.
LONITÉ’s pet memorial diamonds are available in a naturally amber colour, greenish yellow, red, blue, pink, black, and purely colourless in 10 different cuts.

On #RainbowBridgeRemembranceDay, we remember our beloved animal companions that are no longer with us.
How one chooses to mark this day is a deeply personal matter.
How one chooses to mark this day is a deeply personal matter.
Some may settle for something as simple as revisiting old photos and videos to relive treasured memories, others may decide to host a memorial with friends and family or even make a donation in the name of their pet.
If you cremated your pet in the past and kept their ashes, it’s never too late to transform some of them into commemorative jewellery like pet memorial diamonds. These are real diamonds made from the cremated remains or fur of pets, and are both optically and chemically similar to those that form in nature; except for the fact that they are created specifically to pay tribute to your beloved furry friend.
The word diamond comes from the Greek word ‘adamas’ meaning indomitable or invincible, and is similar to the Latin verb ‘adamare’ meaning to love passionately. This, coupled with the fact that the diamond is the hardest natural mineral known to man have ensured the gem remains the universal symbol of love and eternal commitment, for centuries. Herein lies the emotional value of pet memorial diamonds.

How are LONITÉ’s Pet Memorial Diamonds made?
The process of creating pet memorial diamonds in LONITÉ’s state-of-the-art laboratory mimics natural diamond formation within the earth’s crust. Diamonds are essentially a solid form of the element carbon with its atoms arranged in a crystal structure.
