2022 Melbourne Dog Lovers Show - Oct 14 -16

One of the world's largest dog festivals returns this October, at a brand new home and supercharged by biggest pet book ever

Following more than a 3-year ‘paws’, the Dog Lovers Show is set to make a triumphant return to its Melbourne hometown, headlined by hundreds of diverse doggies, an array of fresh talent and more canine tricks, tips and treats than ever before!

The 8th Melbourne Dog Lovers Show has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the world dedicated to educating, entertaining and inspiring new and experienced dog lovers.

With an unprecedented surge in pet ownership since the beginning of the pandemic, there are now an estimated 30 million paws and claws across Australia, with more than one million new dogs welcomed into Aussie homes over the past two years.

With pet ownership soaring to 60% more than 2019, the Show couldn’t be better timed to bound into its big new home at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Show Founder and CEO Jason Humphris said, “Anyone who loves dogs and wants to better understand their pets will be rewarded by attending the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show this October.
The timing is perfect to provide countless ‘pandemic pet parents’ with trusted, reliable information from the country’s most respected companion animal experts.

With less than seven weeks to go the event is already jam-packed with K9-inspired activities and we’re just finalising a few more exciting speakers and attractions, so keep your ears pricked!”

Over three days, visitors can meet and interact with over 800 beautiful dogs representing more than 100 breeds. The Show’s iconic program has been reinvigorated to cater for the new wave of dog owners with essential tips on training, separation anxiety, puppy proofing, canine mental health and overall health and wellbeing.

TV vet Dr Katrina Warren returns to the Vitapet Arena with animal training guru Kelly Gill and The Wonderdogs to astound onlookers with a slew of new tricks.

Crowds will be wowed by the new 'K9 Ninja Championships', as dogs navigate a wild obstacle course hosted by Big Brother star, Farmer Dave Graham. Plus, watch talented pups take fetch to the extreme in the annual Flyball and Frisbee competitions, hosted by Lucy Karbowiak and Emily Lyons.

Educational talks will be hosted each day on the PETstock Stage by some of Australia’s leading dog experts including Lara Shannon and Rose Horton

Fresh from their hit, sheep-herding demos at the Sydney Dog Lovers Show last August, those talented Beloka Kelpies from South Gippsland will impress onlookers with their working- dog antics when they join Rose on stage. As part of the coveted InstaPooch feature, some of the nation’s biggest canine Instagram stars will strut their stuff on the 20-metre-long red carpet.

Get in the SPLASHZONE with crowd-favourite DockDogs to watch four-legged athletes launch themselves into a 100,000-litre Indoor pool, vying to take out titles for longest and highest jumps and fastest retrievals.

Meanwhile, budding pet owners can find an A-Z of breeds to explore in the Breed Showcase and meet dozens of pups looking for forever homes in the PETstock Adoption Zone

Visitors can also learn all about the ins and outs of giving dogs in need a second chance at happy-ever-after, with educational talks on the PETstock Adoption Stage.

Unwind in the Pet House Pat-A-Pooch Zone, with a rare opportunity to get up close and personal, from the comfort of a beanbag, with dogs of all shapes and sizes! Then, visitors can put their paws up and head to the first ever Dog’s Bar for a glass of beer, wine or bubbly and look back at all the day’s memorable experiences.

We should all reward our dogs for providing us with love and affection over the last two years, so organisers have put together Australia’s biggest K9 supermarket, with exclusive show specials on dog-friendly clothing, accommodation, beds, doors, food, grooming, insurance, kennels, leads, collars, pet tech, photographers, retailers, toys, trainers, travel services, treats, vets, walkers and more. Bring your shopping list because you’ll never find this variety again!

Future fur-parents can discover the best breed to suit their home and lifestyle in the Bow Wow Meow Perfect Match Zone

Kids can channel their favourite breed with FREE Doggy Face Painting and snap show memories against the new Neon Glitter Selfie and Funny Photo Walls.
