Paws and Tails Winter Art Gallery Fundraiser - August 19

Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc. invites dog lovers to a unique fundraising event

Mirroring how Picasso used to pay for his meals with paintings, the shelter dogs and cats from Second Chance Animal Rescue are earning their keep using their (previously undiscovered) creative talents.

In a tongue-in-cheek take on the 'art world,' rescue dogs (and two cats) have added their painted paw prints to canvas which have then been transformed - by talented human artists - into masterpieces! (In the humble opinions of all of us here at SCAR).

'We like to think outside the box and do things a little bit differently' says shelter founder Marisa Debattista
'People want to have a good time and if they can do that while supporting a good cause- it's a win win.'
With styles ranging from Lab-stract and Pup-art, all the way to Bark Nouveau, there is an artistic style to suit everyone with all works available via silent auction. Bidding can also be done online in the lead up to and during the event, for people unable to make it to the exhibit.

Each human artist has kindly donated their talents and time, with all proceeds from the works going towards supporting Second Chance Animal Rescue, allowing them to continue their life saving work in the community, helping rescue and rehome abandoned pets and supporting pet owners doing it tough.

'Every time an artist delivers a finished piece to the shelter ready for the event, we are blown away by how incredible and different each one is.' says volunteer coordinator Holly Johannesen.
