Uber Pet has got you covered on Take Your Dog to Work Day 2022

Commissioned ahead of today’s Take Your Dog To Work Day (June 24), research supports the rise in Aussies wanting to continue to work alongside their pandemic pups, as more workplaces move to hybrid work from home and the office policies.

  • 4 in 5 Australian dog owners say they would return to the office more often if they could bring their dog
  • 3 in 5 say they would be inclined to accept a job offer if their workplace was dog friendly, says new research commissioned by Uber Pet.

In fact, since Uber Pet launched in 2020, allowing riders to match with a driver-partner willing to transport their fur friend too, the rideshare service has seen a 79% increase in pet owners travelling around the country with their beloved pooches, with a 97% increase in riders commuting to and from work with pets.

With public transport cited as one of the barriers for workers bringing their fur besties to work, Uber is offering 50% off all Uber Pet trips between 7am - 7pm on National Take Your Pet To Work Day today.

One lockdown habit here to stay is dog owners spending a lot more time with their pandemic pups. Many Aussies have grown fond of having their canine companions by their side 24/7, for staycations up the coast, Friday nights at dog-friendly pubs or even trips into the office to ease separation anxiety.

In fact, since the launch of Uber Pet in 2020, allowing riders to match with a driver-partner willing to transport their fur friend too, we’ve seen a 79% increase in pet owners travelling around the country with their beloved pooches. In particular, we’ve seen a 97% increase in riders commuting to and from work with pets.

Consumer research also tells us that 85% Australian dog owners said they would go into the office more if they could take their pets, with studies showing people who take their dog to work have higher levels of job satisfaction and lower levels of stress on average.

7 in 10 Aussie pet owners admit that they work from home more because they’re concerned about leaving their dog alone at home.

Furthermore, over half of Aussies (59%) say a key barrier that prevents them from taking their pet into the office or workplace boils down to the commute there, with the same amount claiming they would go in more if they could take their dog on public transport.

Other interesting findings from this survey include:

  • 40% got their dog during lockdown and they have separation anxiety or don’t like to be left alone
  • 3 in 5 would be more inclined to accept a job offer if their office / workplace was dog friendly
  • 71% believe their office / workplace is under-utilised post Covid-19
That’s why, as many Aussies embrace hybrid working, Uber Pet wants to help their fur babies be part of it too, by encouraging riders to take their pets into the office on National Take Your Dog To Work Day.
