From learning to stitch to learning pet CPR and watching a desexing surgery, animal loving kids have no better place to be during the summer than at Australia’s popular Future Vet Kids Camp in Sydney.

The 5-day school holiday program is designed by veterinarians and run by vet twins Drs Audrey and Alison Shen from the Bondi Vet TV show and Aussie Mobile Vet. It caters to kids aged 9 to 16 years and encourages responsible pet ownership, the profession of veterinary medicine and a love and appreciation of all animals and their habitats!

The Sydney camp will be held at Waverley College in Waverley on Jan 10 – 14 and Jan 17 – 21, 2022. A Virtual Online Camp will run concurrently to the HQ Sydney Camp with the ability for kids to join the classroom virtually and participate with questions in real time.

Campers learn about different animal-related professions, genetic diseases, pet nutrition, exotic animals, surgery, animal rescue and wildlife conservation.

Plus, they visit state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals for exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences, and many other exciting excursions!

The camp also features outstanding presenters from ultrasound, surgical and reptile expert talks to grooming, animal rehab, dog training demonstrations, wildlife talks and much more, said Dr Audrey. “There will also be many hands-on activities across the age groups, including making enrichment toys and fake skin for wound care!” she said.

Dr Alison said the Junior Vets will learn how to work through real life cases, interpret blood work and imaging, and learn how to draw blood and observe real life surgery!

“Whether or not the kids end up following the path to a career in veterinary medicine, just being around many different animals (from Greyhounds to snakes!) and making like-minded new friends from around Australia have such a positive impact on them,” she said.

The Jan 2022 camp is anticipated to fill up just as fast as the last summer, so register now!

Camp Ambassador Program

Drs Audrey and Alison are also proud to announce Future Vet Kids Camp’s new Ambassador Program, which acknowledges our campers' dedication to our camp with multiple attendance and shown an enthusiastic attitude and genuine care for animals.

The 2022 Camp Ambassadors are Oliver Whetton and Audrey Urquhart from Sydney. They will be invited to Camp events, have access to live Virtual Online camp presentations for 2022, assist camp instructors at face-to- face camps and get to spend a day with the Bondi Vet twins in their consult van.

"We also look forward to supporting our Camp Ambassadors Oliver and Audrey with animal welfare projects they are interested in," said Dr Audrey.

An aspiring exotics veterinarian and owner of five chickens, four parrots and a spotted python named Bindi, 15-year-old Oliver wants to “encourage people and kids to take proper care of their pets and to raise awareness for wildlife conservation”.

Audrey, 13, is a volunteer foster carer of kittens and has always wanted to work with animals. She said Future Vet Kids Camp has got her thinking about becoming a marine biologist. “It’s also inspired me to cut down on my use of plastics to help marine wildlife and the environment, and to volunteer with animal charities,” she added.
