RSPCA NSW Healthy Pet Days - May 2021

RSPCA NSW partnering with Vets Beyond Borders for Healthy Pet Days

Volunteers from Vets Beyond Borders will be deployed to assist RSPCA NSW with community outreach programs throughout May, starting with the South Coogee Healthy Pet Day this Wednesday 5 May 2021.

Free microchipping, vaccinations and health-checks will be provided by veterinarians from RSPCA NSW, Greencross Vets, and Vets Beyond Borders for up to two pets from each eligible household.

Pet food, flea and worming prevention will be also kindly provided by the Petbarn Foundation on the day.

Proof of pension or concession card status, local residency, and age will be required on the day. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting RSPCA NSW. The address of each event will be provided at the time of booking.

This new partnership has developed from a successful pilot program where 13 Vets Beyond Borders members volunteered for 19 days combined at the RSPCA NSW Sydney Shelter assisting with husbandry duties.

“This partnership between RSPCA NSW and Vets Beyond Borders will help hundreds of pets, and their owners, get the help and support they need”, said RSPCA NSW Community Outreach Officer Claudia Jones.

“We are excited to have Vets Beyond Borders assist our efforts in disadvantaged communities and we hope to continue working together to improve animal welfare across the state well into the future.”

Future Healthy Pet Days scheduled in May 2021 include:
  • 5 May – South Coogee
  • 13 May – Liverpool
  • 22 May – Redfern / Waterloo
  • 24 May – Tenterfield
  • 25 May – Glen Innes
  • 27 May – Tamworth

Event details are subject to change due to COVID-19. All attendees must follow social distancing advice on the day.

Any veterinarians or vet nurses wanting to volunteer their time to help future Healthy Pets Days can do so by contacting Vets Beyond Borders via their website, volunteering page, or via email.
