Pound Paws National Dog Day a Huge Success!

Over the weekend, Pound Paws hosted an early National Dog Day paw-ty at The Golden Sheaf, Double Bay.

Locals and dog lovers were treated to a variety of paw-some activities, with a mission to raise awareness about the importance of choosing to adopt instead of shop.

Pound Paws Dog Day 2019 at The Sheaf was an event collaboration between Pound Paws and The Golden Sheaf. The event took place in The Golden Sheaf’s dog-friendly beer garden spread out into Kiaora Laneway, a well-known hot spot for dog owners, to sip coffee and enjoy the Double Bay lifestyle with their pooches.

The event was run by Pound Paws with a mission to raise awareness about pet adoption to the local community, providing dogs available for adoption from Dachshund Rescue Australia and Greyhounds As Pets.

The event kicked off with red carpet arrivals for the pooches, where pup-arazzi snapped them at their best angles! They were then treated like absolute socialites, with their own VIP goodie bags including doggie treats and much more!

Dog owners and lovers leisurely enjoyed over 15 market stalls, with paw- some activities like professional fur-tographers, doggie massages, treat tastings, puppy crystal healing, free VET HQ vet checks and much more!

Celebrity judges came down and supported the day, by getting involved in the judging panel for Best Dog Trick and Best Dog Costume. Darren McMullen (Former The Voice Australia Host) awarded @I_amchef_thefrenchie with Best Dressed Dog, with @withlovefrombailey coming a close second, however only just missing out, due to Darren's fear of clown outfits!

The other dog loving judges, Christa Billich, @Manolo.Pigmop, Geoff Golovksy and Nikki Phillips selected the Best Dog Trick winner, @withlovefrombailey, who showed great confidence in entering the competition again, with a "high-five paw" trick!
