The Dirty Dog Tail Run is a fun trail run/walk event for hounds and their humans held each year in the picturesque Coopernook State Forest (NSW).
Presented by a team of dedicated animal lovers and sponsored this year by Forster Discovery Parks, NSW State Forests, Taree Pet Barn and Bobbie Dogs, the 4km or 8.5km walk or run will take place on Sunday 18th August 2019, for its fourth year.
As well as the run/walk, this event features an obstacle course for dogs, and a new addition to the 2019 event: the Barking Brain Games, where dogs will need to use their smarts to find treats.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! Pooches will also get to enjoy interactive games presented by On the Ball Dog Training and a cupcake eating competition.
Event Creator Danielle Donnelly said the event has been designed around the dog’s happiness and welfare. Additionally money raised from ticket sales goes towards Forster based welfare charity Sweetpea Animal Hospital and Rescue.
“It’s about promoting responsible pet ownership and showing that having fun with your dog and taking them on adventures is a major part of taking the best care of them possible. We’ve designed the course so it appeals to hounds and humans of all shapes, sizes and abilities” Danielle said.
Every pooch will receive a Doggy Bag with a race number, a Dirty Dog Tail Run medal and dog bandana, doggy treats, as well as refreshments along the course.
Partnering with NSW State Forests to host the event at Coopernook, "we've been able to educate people on State Forests as dog-friendly spaces, which most people don't know", she added. "It means dog owners and their pooches will get out more often to enjoy local forests and find their own adventure trails outside of the event".
"The Dirty Dog Tail Run offers something for every dog owner, from the exhilaration of completing the course, to the interactive games and special treats, Danielle added. "But most of all it's about celebrating the bond between dogs and their owners, and giving them the chance to enjoy a great day out together".
