Paws at the Park - the largest free dog market event for dog lovers on the Gold Coast - returns to Mudgeeraba Showgrounds on August 19.
Founders Jenna Schroeder and Lia Ferguson have grown this event from 20 to 100 market stalls over the past three years and have raised thousands of dollars for Animal Welfare League of QLD.
After rescuing her dog Ruby, Jenna combined her love for dogs and tea and created Doggie Tea - the first tea made especially for dogs. At a local market, she met Lia - founder of dog homewares business Oodle & Co, born out of the love for her Cavoodle Piper. The ladies saw the need to create a place where dog lovers and dog-related businesses could come together in a market-style environment and as a result, created the Paws at the Park event.
Now in its third year, Paws at the Park is expected to attract up to 10,000 people and you can browse stalls with everything from accessories and treats to natural therapies, organic food and of course doggie ice-cream - Jenna's latest business venture is Hugo's Ice Creamery.
You can also enjoy talks and demos, Doga (dog yoga) class, flower crown classes, pop-up photo booth, enter the fundraising raffle and more!
One of the highlights of the event are the Best Dressed','Best Owner/Dog Look-Alike', 'Best Trick' and - for the not so talented! - the 'Least Obedient' competitions on stage (12:00 to 2:00pm) which attract the most pampered pooches on the coast.
