Dogs Breakfast & Microchipping Day - Jan 14

Hobsons Bay’s annual dogs breakfast and microchipping day will be held at Altona’s Apex Park on Saturday 14th January.

Registration is normally $46 - for a dog that is microchipped and desexed - but the council is offering $25 microchipping and free first-time dog registrations with proof that animals are microchipped and desexed.

Victorian law requires cats and dogs to be microchipped as a condition of registration. All dogs more than three months old must be registered, with registrations due each April. The fine for keeping an unregistered dog is $311. Lost dogs that are registered and microchipped can be reunited directly with their owners from Hobsons Bay instead of being impounded at the Lost Dogs Home.

This free fun-filled morning is all about learning about how you and your dog can enjoy our wonderful coast while protecting precious local wildlife. Pet owners can enjoy a dog-friendly bird walk, flyball demonstration, roving entertainment from The Connies and more. Local vets and dog trainers will be on hand to offer advice and teach your old (or young) dog some new tricks.
