Test, Don’t Guess: Australia’s First Titre Test Roadshow for Dogs Launches
The "Personalised Health" movement is hitting the road. After our deep dive into smarter vaccinations last year, 5 Hounds is making immunity testing accessible nationwide.
Last year, we explored how titre testing is changing the game for Australian pet owners by providing an evidence-based alternative to blanket annual boosters. The response from the Australian Dog Lover community was clear: you want more control over your dog's preventative care.
Now, Australian veterinary-led wellness brand 5 Hounds is taking that science on the road. The country’s first-ever Titre Test Roadshow is launching across five major cities, offering a unique opportunity to check your dog’s immunity before their next needle.
Why This Matters Now
With over 500 appointments already booked, the roadshow reflects a massive shift toward data-driven pet parenting. During a pilot program last year, 5 Hounds tested 510 dogs. The results were staggering: only three dogs required a booster.
“At 5 Hounds, our approach is centered on the individual dog,” says founder and veterinarian Dr. Will Maginness.

“Titre testing isn’t about abandoning vaccines—vaccination is essential. It’s about determining whether a booster is needed for each dog, rather than following a calendar.”

For those who missed our comprehensive guide to titre testing, it is a simple blood test that measures protective antibody levels against the three "core" diseases:
- Canine Parvovirus
- Distemper
- Adenovirus (Hepatitis)
Following Global Guidelines
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) guidelines state that after the initial puppy course and the first annual booster, core vaccines should generally not be given more frequently than every three years for adult dogs.
Titre testing allows owners to follow these professional guidelines with scientific certainty, ensuring we vaccinate when needed, rather than just when the calendar says so.
Real Stories from the 2025 Clinics
Behind every titre test is a dog with a story, and last year’s clinics brought some truly special characters to the foreground. From young "soul dogs" to beloved seniors, these stories highlight why making informed health decisions is so personal.
Odie: The "Soul Dog" in His Prime
Five-year-old Black Labrador Odie is more than just a pet to Lisa Cutajar of Mulgrave; he’s her "shadow" and her absolute soul dog. A gentle "teddy bear" who has mastered the art of opening his own treat cupboard, Odie lives for his nature walks and rolling in the mud.
Working in the pet industry, Lisa is constantly talking about proactive health and longevity. When it came to Odie, she didn’t want to just follow a schedule—she wanted to be informed.
The Result: Odie’s 2025 test confirmed strong immunity to all three core diseases (Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvovirus), proving he was already well-protected for his next muddy adventure.
"My dog is the love of my life, and everything I do for him is with longevity in mind," Lisa explains. "Titre testing just made sense. It’s about making informed decisions, not automatic ones."
Ruby: The 14-Year-Old "Paw-lates" Partner
At 14 years young, Ruby the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is still a huge part of the family in Brighton. Whether she’s joining her owner Sophia Sellick for some gentle "paw-lates" moves or heading out on the boat, Ruby stays right by Sophia's side.
As Ruby has entered her senior years and managed a few health issues, Sophia has become very conscious of anything that might place unnecessary stress on her immune system
The Result: Ruby’s test showed she still carries strong immunity to all three core diseases
"Titre testing gave me clarity," says Sophia. "Instead of assuming she needed another vaccine, we were able to make a decision based on her actual immunity."
