More Than Just a Day Out: A Cause with a Paw-sitive Impact
North Gong Dog Day isn’t just about fun—it’s about making a difference. The event is a major platform for raising awareness of pet adoption, supporting rescue groups, and helping dogs in pounds find forever homes. Funds raised during the event will go directly to Illawarra rescue organisations participating in the day.
A Happy Tail: Rosie's Rescue Story
This is why we do it. The funds raised at events like North Gong Dog Day make a real difference, just like they did for Rosie, a sweet Greyhound.
After suffering severe leg injuries from a dog attack, Rosie's owner, a greyhound racer, was advised by a vet that she could be treated but would never race again. The owner told the vet to euthanise Rosie, saying that while she was their nicest dog, she was no use if she couldn't race.

The incredible rescue group Homeward Bound Hounds stepped in, taking in Rosie just one day after North Gong Dog Day 2022. Although they didn't have any foster carers, they successfully raised funds from the event to help with her emergency vet bill and re-home her.
