Paws for Sophie 2026 Pet Calendar Contest

Paws for Sophie Pet Calendar Fundraiser Extended: Supporting Vet Mental Health Charity, Sophie’s Legacy

Sydney-based pet photographer Allira Fontana has launched a heart-warming initiative called Paws for Sophie, a 2026 pet calendar contest and fundraiser supporting the vital work of Sophie’s Legacy — a charity committed to improving mental health and working conditions for veterinary professionals across Australia.

Inspired by the memory of Dr Sophie Putland, Sophie’s Legacy advocates for systemic change within the veterinary industry through education, policy reform and public awareness. The charity shines a light on the challenges veterinary teams face, including compassion fatigue, client abuse and unsustainable working environments.

Through Paws for Sophie, pet lovers are invited to enter their beloved companions into a photo contest.

Each entry supports Sophie’s Legacy directly, with a goal of raising at least $3,000. So far just under $2,000 has been raised.

The top 13 pets with the most votes will win a professional photography session with Allira and be featured in the limited-edition 2026 Paws for Sophie Calendar. The pet with the most votes will grace the cover.

“Veterinary professionals are the quiet heroes behind the scenes of every happy and healthy pet,” says Allira. “This fundraiser is about giving back to them, and raising awareness of the very real mental health challenges they face.”

Voting is open to the public and each $1 vote goes directly to Sophie’s Legacy. The calendars, which will be professionally printed and released later this year, will further support the cause through sales.
