Honouring Love, Courage and Fur-iendship with a $20K Prize Pool Plus the new ARAS Medal for Rescue Dog Su-Paw Stars!
For the fifth year running, Puppy Tales is proud to once again lead the search for the 2025 Australian Dog of the Year to sniff out the doggo who best embodies the true-blue Aussie dog spirit of love, inspiration, courage, assistance and friendship! The winners will be unleashed on Australia Day, 26 January 2025.
“The Puppy Tales Australian Dog of the Year celebrates the faithful canine companions who stand by us through life’s ups and downs while making a paws-itive impact on society,” says Kerry Martin, award-winning pet photographer, author and founder of Puppy Tales, the ultimate website for living your best life with your fur family.
The Puppy Tales Australian Dog of the Year Awards are inspired by the remarkable dogs Kerry has met and photographed throughout her years of travel across this beautiful country.
“Hoomans are great and all,” she says with a wink, “but let’s be real—where would we be without our loyal, loving furry friends?”
From therapy and assistance dogs to hardworking farm dogs, conservation heroes, and the fearless hounds in rescue teams, the military and the police force, our canine companions are as diverse as Australia itself!
“These dogs aren’t just remarkable —they’re life-changers,” Kerry adds. “And let’s not forget their unyielding devotion to their hoomans in the face of life’s challenges — whether it’s tough times, sadness or even the occasional vacuum cleaner!”
This year, Puppy Tales is thrilled to announce a new award: The ARAS (All Rescues are Special) Medal, proudly sponsored by The Saltiest Dog!
“Rescue dogs have a unique way of teaching us about resilience, second chances and unconditional love,” says Kerry. “They may come from challenging beginnings, but their capacity to transform lives — and to be transformed themselves — is nothing short of extraordinary! Every rescue has a story, and every story deserves to be celebrated.”
Puppy Tales wants to hear about the pooches who’ve gone above and beyond, whether it’s through service to their communities, life-changing support to humans or simply being the best mate a person could ask for.
Celebrating dogs with big rewards
The Puppy Tales Australian Dog of the Year 2025 winners, nominees and voters will share in prizes worth $20K.
“The Puppy Tales Australian Dog of the Year Award not only celebrates our incredible canine companions but also gives back,” says Kerry. “Puppy Tales will make a generous donation to the winner’s preferred charity, recognising the vital work they do in communities across the country, particularly in these challenging times.”
