Petstock Foundation's 2024 Christmas Project

The Petstock Foundation gives the magic of a better future this Christmas

‘The Christmas Project’ aims to donate $827k for pets and people in need throughout November and December.

Christmas is a time for giving, and this Christmas, the Petstock Foundation is giving the most magical gift of all - a better future for pets and people in need.

With the aim to raise $827,750 for charity partners in Australia ($875,000 combined for Australia and New Zealand), the Petstock Foundation is encouraging Australians to lend their support during November and December. Big or small, every gift is a chance to make a difference.

100% of proceeds from The Christmas Project will be donated to eight organisations nationwide, including: Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs Australia (National), Smart Pups (QLD), Lort Smith Pet Therapy Program (VIC), Lucy's Project (NSW & ACT), Dogs for First Responders (WA), Story Dogs (SA & NT).

Funds raised will enable charities, including national charity partners, Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs Australia, to provide the gifts of sight, confidence, independence and empowerment for people who need them most.

Guide Dogs gives profound change to the lives of people with low vision and blindness. A Guide Dog provides independence through the safety and travel techniques they are trained to learn, and companionship through their unique personalities, and the powerful bond they share with the person they are matched with.

Assistance Dogs Australia train dogs that specialise in support for people with a physical disability, autism or PTSD, empowering them to live a fulfilling life.

Jessica Curtis, Head of Petstock Foundation, says, “We know Christmas can be a difficult time for the most vulnerable people in our community, with many people experiencing even more financial strain, loneliness and increased anxiety during this time. At the Petstock Foundation, we understand the magic that pets and animals can bring to our lives, and our aim is to strengthen the rewarding bond between pets and people.

"This Christmas, we are asking our community to give the gift of a better future to those in need. Purchase a Petstock Foundation gift or product in-store or online, and 100% of funds raised in November and December will be donated to our charity partners.”

One in three people report feeling lonely during the Christmas season, and the high cost of living can further isolate people who are already experiencing hardship - it’s often people with a disability or limited independence who are impacted more than others.

Petstock research has shown that 81% of people feel that having a pet provides emotional support, and 95% agree it improves their mental health, so it’s even more important to support those who find sight, confidence, independence and empowerment through pets and animals this Christmas.

Jennifer Gibb, Guide Dogs Executive Director, says “The life changing services we provide to people with low vision or blindness are only possible thanks to the advocacy, support and generosity of people like our friends at the Petstock Foundation, their suppliers, team members and customers.
“Together we are breaking barriers and enabling people to live the lives they choose.”
Tim Taylor, Assistance Dogs Australia CEO, says “It takes over two years and $60,000 to breed, train, and match each Assistance Dog with a person in need. With more than 200 Assistance Dogs currently placed across Australia, Assistance Dogs Australia is committed to expanding this life-changing program in the coming years.

“These remarkable dogs, with thanks to the generous support from the Petstock Foundation and the community this Christmas will help us reach our goal of supporting even more individuals who need it most.”
