Guide Dogs Sydney Airport Pup-up Café - January 18

Dream Airport lounge alert - Guide Dogs is opening a one day only pup-up café at Sydney Airport!

Sydneysiders and holiday makers, get ready for a cuteness overload as Guide Dogs NSW/ACT brings its lab-radorable pup-up café to Sydney Airport this January.

For one day only on Thursday 18th January, those travelling through Sydney Airport’s Domestic Terminal 2 can enjoy a coffee in the company of a pawfect puppy. Whether you have just landed into Sydney or awaiting your flight – there’s no better way to start your vacay!

The pup-up Café is part of a wider appeal by Sydney Airport which runs until 21 January, raising funds to support and train a litter of five puppies for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.

In fact, Café goers will be lucky enough to meet and cuddle the gorgeous Airport Litter which have all been given aviation themed names by staff at Sydney Airport.

Labrador puppies Aero, Pax, Kingsford, Syd and Amelia will be the first class guests on the day!

Aside from getting in the morning coffee fix, Guide Dogs Café goers can cuddle and pose with the special airport litter, colour in and even play on a Guide Dogs claw machine - all in one place!

It doesn’t end with the gorgeous airport puppies, Therapy Dogs will also be in attendance at the café as well as staff who can share more on the work and role of Guide Dogs.

So for those who want to get their paws on tickets for this enviable event, all tickets will be available on the day at the door of the café, with two drop in sessions running from 10-11.30am and again from 12.30-2pm.

Tickets are $15 for all which covers entry fee and a coffee of choice, and the best part is that kids under 10 go free! There is also a family pass available priced at $30 for four people.

And if you’re not lucky enough to be jetting off for the weekend, the event is also open to the general public who are just after a dose of Puppy love! Travelling or not, all guests will be required to go through security to enter the pup-up Café.

Guide Dogs Head of Fundraising and Insights Gary Bristow says, “This is a first of its kind partnership for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and the support so far has been incredible. Thank you to Sydney Airport for selecting us as the Christmas Appeal Partner for 2023 and to all those who generously donated at the airport this festive season. We are excited to continue working with Sydney Airport in the future to help create more inclusive Airport travel for the blind and low vision community.”

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Puppy Development Advisor Sabrina Gabrielle says, “For one day only, we are thrilled to open up our Guide Dog café in Sydney Airport where ticket holders can meet the gorgeous Airport Litter and learn about the wonderful work of Guide Dogs.”
“This day is all about highlighting the brilliant work that Guide Dogs does, raising awareness for our community and celebrate our wonderful Christmas appeal partnership with Sydney Airport.”
“It takes over two years and costs $50,000 to breed, raise and train each life changing Guide Dog, including the pups we’ll have at our café. Through this event we want to recognise the crucial role all of our dogs play in helping Australians living with low vision and blindness lead a life without limits.”

Sydney Airport Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Experience Senior Manager Kate Bondar says, “Guide Dogs offer vital independence and assistance to people living with low vision and blindness, especially when they travel through airports.”

“The pup-up café will not only give passengers a chance to have a cuppa and cuddle with cute puppies, but we also hope it reinforces how essential Guide Dogs are and how welcome they are at Sydney Airport.”

The pup-up café takes place on Thursday 18th January at Sydney Airport, Domestic Terminal 2, located at Café Veloce.

Two Puppy Café sessions will run from 10-11.30am and the second from 12.30-2pm.
