Rescue Dogs: How 'Take Me Home' and Pedigree are aiming to end animal homelessnessOur centuries-old love of dogs has never been stronger, and it shines through in the six-part documentary series, ‘Take Me Home’ that follows the work of Sue Hedley, Medal of the Order of Australia recipient, and founder of animal rescue organisation SAFE Inc (Saving Animals From Euthanasia).
Working together with rangers in the vast Pilbara region, volunteers and local foster carers, SAFE Inc saves the lives of dogs and other pets that are lost and forgotten, unloved and unwanted, and often dumped by callous owners.
Founder of Safe Inc Sue Hedley says the feel-good family series, ‘Take Me Home’, will open a window into a world that most viewers haven’t experienced before, and inspire people to join in the SAFE Inc team’s animal rescue work.
“I started SAFE Inc as I couldn’t stand to see dogs locked up in cages or needlessly put down,” Sue says.
“I thought kids go into foster care, so why not dogs and cats?”But making a prime time show like this, just like the daily operations of SAFE Inc, takes many helping hands. For branded entertainment experts Projucer, the chance to finance a show like this only comes around so often, and tasked with bringing on valuable partners meant looking at those media savvy brands with a healthy appetite for meaningful change.
Bianca Werkmeister, Portfolio Marketing Lead at Mars Petcare, said it was an easy choice for the Pedigree® brand to support the show.
“When approached by Projucer for the chance to be woven into a prime time TV show that supports dog adoption, we jumped at the chance and are so proud to support initiatives that help dogs find their forever loving home.”
For Executive Producer Joshua Capelin at production company Projucer, finding the right partners who would believe in the show as much as he would, and be easily and authentically integrated into the storylines, weaving Pedigree into a prime time show, delivered value for everyone.
“Take Me Home has been an incredible experience to be a part of. For SAFE it raises its profile and mission nationally which will aid its adoption rates. And for the Pedigree® brand, they get to help secure amazing and inspirational new loving homes for these pets in need.”
“We really do run on the smell of an oily rag,” Sue Hedley continues. “So together with our amazing volunteers, and the Pilbara rangers who dedicate their working life to ensuring positive outcomes, SAFE Inc is all about regular people opening their hearts and homes to care for homeless animals and provide short-term care until a permanent home is found.

Having a company like Pedigree support Take Me Home and our work here is very encouraging.”
With strong viewership after three episodes, Projucer is hopeful of getting the chance to produce a Second Season. After all, every time the SAFE Inc door opens or its phone rings, a new animal is in need of our help and a new home.
