Dog Lovers Show Sydney 2021 - August 7 & 8

Australia’s favourite fur-festival makes a triumphant return to Sydney Olympic Park this August with more than 800 dogs representing over 120 breeds. The team behind the Dog Lovers Show has revived and re-invigorated its iconic program to celebrate the seventh Sydney festival, marking a huge milestone on the national event calendar.

After an extremely challenging year, CEO of Event Management International and Show Founder, Jason Humphris, says the Show’s return is an important step forward in the recovery of the Australian event industry.

“2020 was a devastating year for this wonderful sector that employs hundreds of thousands of people and contributes billions of dollars to the Australian economy each year. We feel so fortunate to have survived the challenges of the pandemic and be able to bring our beloved Show back to Sydney in 2021,” says Humphris.

“Dogs have been a beacon of love and comfort for so many Australians over the past year with adoption and ownership rates hitting an all-time high. As well as being a great value day out, this year’s Show will be an unparalleled educational resource for new pet owners adjusting to life with their four-legged friends. We can’t wait to see tails wagging and faces smiling at the Sydney Showground to celebrate our best friends like never before.”

Visitors are in for a paw-packed weekend full of action and excitement.

Beloved TV vet, Dr Katrina Warren is set to return to the Vitapet Arena with animal training extraordinaire Kelly Gill and The Wonderdogs, ast-hound-ing onlookers with a slew of new tricks.

Crowds will be wowed by the awe-inspiring K9 Ninja obstacle course hosted by Dave Graham, and Rodney Gooch will join his 4 Paws Dog Sports Team in a jaw-dropping speed, agility sports and trick competition.

More than 50 free educational talks will be presented across the Ask-A-Breeder Stage and the Main Stage by some of Australia’s leading animal experts including Lara Shannon, Rose Horton and Dr Jo Righetti. Sydney’s biggest canine social media stars will strut their stuff on the Insta- Pooch red carpet, meet adoring fans and take part in interviews with Pound Paws Founder, Brittany Bloomer.

Over in the famous Wood Chop Arena, the BlackHawk Dock Dogs is set to make a splash with Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieval competitions in an enormous 100,000-litre pool. BYO raincoat!

Showcasing incredible strength and stamina, the talented pups of Australian Working Dog Rescue will headline the Outdoor Arena. These impressive canines will soar to new heights in the Extreme High Jump competition and in true farm style, herd real sheep in the Sheepdog Speed Trials.

For visitors looking to take a break from all the action, Pat-A-Pooch will provide a safe and comfortable space to get up close and paw-sonal with dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds.

Potential pet owners can meet dozens of pups looking for fur-ever homes in the PETstock Adoption Zone, with an A-Z of breeds to explore at the PETspot Breed Showcase presented by DOGS NSW.

Award-winning dog groomer, Melanie Newman, will provide expert tips for taming troublesome manes in the Ask-A-Groomer Zone, and future paw-rents can discover the best breed to suit their lifestyle at the Bow Wow Meow Perfect Match Zone.

Using fluffy plush toys, budding vets can learn how to care for animals big and small in a mock clinic by SASH. Inside the new Kids Zone presented by NSW Animal Welfare League, little ones can look like their favourite breed with free face painting and families can snap memories at the new Glitter Selfie Wall.

Attendees will be spoiled for choice with hundreds of Australia’s best pet brands exhibiting new products, services and dog tech with exclusive Show deals. An array of Sydney’s best bites will fill the outdoor food truck area.

With the safety and wellbeing of visitors the utmost priority, the organisers have worked closely with the venue to establish a NSW government approved Covid-Safe Plan.
