2019 Nearly a Vet Convention - QLD, SA & VIC

Rebecca Johnston is the best-selling author of the children’s books series Juliet, Nearly a Vet and the Vet Cadets and the winner of the 2015 Prime Ministers Prize for teaching Primary School Science.

She came up with a terrific initiative to educate primary school children on what the job of a veterinarian entails.

For the second year running, kids (over 4 years) are invited to attend one of her 'Nearly a Vet Conventions' to be held at various veterinary practices across Australia.

What is a Nearly a Vet Convention?

Kids can bring a stuffed animal and join other ‘Nearly Vets’ as they practice their vetting skills and learn about the things real vets do, with the assistance of some extra special guests!

They'll also get some tips on great story writing and character development. Plus all participants will receive a Nearly a Vet Kit to take home!

Each kit contains:

• A proper child-sized heavy duty lab coat
• A working stethoscope
• A face mask
• Surgical gloves
• A real digital thermometer
• A pipette
• A specimen jar
• A bandage
• A Nearly a Vet diary
• A syringe pen
• A pet pack for stuffed animals

If you can’t make it to a Nearly a Vet Convention, you can purchase a kit from the online store or eBay.
