I was concerned about extreme temperatures during winter or summer and I truly felt that Bailey coming home was about me reluctantly closing a chapter of my life in the USA. \u003Cb\u003EI just wanted this pandemic to blow over, for life to get back to normal\u003C\/b\u003E and for me to continue living in New York. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut then I decided to use an agency called \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/pet-express.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"color: #2b00fe;\"\u003EPet Express\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;a\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia;\"\u003End to be honest, I wish I had done it sooner!\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: large;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia;\"\u003EThey asked for a deposit and assured me I could pause the plans if needed. They gave me updated information that previously had me going around in circles for months between airlines and the \u003Ci\u003EDepartment of Agriculture\u003C\/i\u003E, let alone understanding the \u003Cb\u003Eschedule for the required mandatory vaccinations\u003C\/b\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: large;\"\u003EThey were an email away from any question and were dealing with pets flying all over the world every day. To put it simply they knew what they're doing.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia; font-size: large;\"\u003EThe overall cost came to around $10,000. I thankfully had amazing friends willing to babysit until Bailey's take-off.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia; font-size: large;\"\u003EI couldn't have done any of this without one special friend, Woody. This has nothing to do with the wellbeing of our puppies but with convenience for us humans. Yes, puppies and dogs need to learn to be home alone but this process needs to be very gradual and cannot be done within a few days! An anxiety is not a training problem but a \u003Cb\u003Emedical problem\u003C\/b\u003E and it needs to be addressed as such. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia;\"\u003EBut as said, in a lot of cases staying home alone is just another behaviour that can be taught. It is part of the bigger picture of being calm. Which seems to be the new mantra for our dogs. If you have tried Yoga, you know how hard it is to calm the mind. The same is true for dogs. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: georgia;\"\u003ETo start this process with puppies and older dogs I recommend ‘mat (bed) training’. I do not recommend tie downs. This does not teach anything but just forces the dog to remain in one place. \u003Cb\u003ECreating positive association with their bed is much more appropriate\u003C\/b\u003E and in the long run more successful.
