After huge success in Sydney, the splash-tastic DockDogs® will finally be making its debut at the Melbourne Show in 2017.
An exciting, high-energy aquatic long jump for canines, DockDogs® presented by BlackHawk will see some of Australia’s most talented dogs attempt some of the longest leaps, highest jumps and fastest water retrievals ever witnessed in Australia.
The fastest growing dog sport in the world and an absolute must-see at the Melbourne show with dogs launching themselves off an elevated dock into a massive 100,000 litre swimming pool.
Australian Hero Dog Tribute
From working and military dogs to therapy and assistance dogs, the Australian Hero Dog Tribute will showcase the incredible skills and abilities of our service dogs and the contribution they make to improve the lives of thousands of people in our community every day.
The tribute will present detailed information on the history of service dogs, training methods and the biological attributes that makes these dogs so amazing. The headline show in the Royal Canin Arena will be co-hosted by official ambassador Andrew Morley and popular dog trainer Steve Austin.
With daily talks from leading associations and dozens of service dogs attending with their handlers, it is a rare opportunity for visitors to learn more about these special dogs.
The 2017 Show will also introduce a fun and interactive InstaPooch Zone where visitors will get the opportunity to snap selfies and meet some of Melbourne’s most famous canine Instagram stars to share with their followers.
Since 2013, the Rescue Dog Zone has helped rehome 2,000 dogs around Victoria and organisers are confident that new initiatives will deliver record numbers of dog adoptions this year again.
The Breed Showcase presented by DOGS Victoria Breed Clubs is always one of the highlights and with 50+ breeds on show for visitors to see, compare and cuddle, it is sure to draw big crowds again. Representatives will be on-hand to ensure visitors gather reliable advice to make informed decisions to select the right dog breed for their lifestyle.
Always in high demand, the Pat-A-Pooch Zone will again provide visitors with an opportunity to meet, connect and learn more about some of Australia’s most beloved dogs of all shapes, sizes, age and ability.
The KONG Celebrity Vet Stage will present informative educational programs coupled with demonstrations of skill, agility and intelligence in the Royal Canin Arena.
There will be exciting new demonstrations from the talented UpDogs (canine frisbee, agility and tricks combined), the inaugural K9 Weave Pole Sprint Challenge with some of the country’s fastest and most talented dogs bursting with high-energy in a relay competition plus the K9 Scent Scramble.
The popular "Meet the Breeds" showcase returns with Dr Harry where visitors can discover and learn more about some fascinating dogs.
With hundreds of exhibitors it will be the largest annual showcase of dog products, services and technology in Australia, with many new products and services being launched at the show.
There will be free vet and grooming advice, a bookshop full of the best dog-related books, a Perfect Match Zone to help you find the most suitable pooch for your lifestyle and kids can even get their face-painted with their favourite dog breed!
