APDT Conference 2017 - Oct 26 to 29


The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) invites you to their annual Conference at the Stamford Grand Hotel in Glenelg, South Australia from Thursday 26th October until Sunday 29th October.

This event is open to anyone with a strong interest in dog behaviour and training or considering working in that field, and of course dog trainers and pet industry professionals. There will be a wealth of knowledge and practical advice delivered by a great line up of international and Australian speakers to offer something new to a broader audience.

Confirmed speakers for the 2017 Conference include:

  • Risë Van Fleet - Ph.D., RPT-S, CDBC, is a licensed psychologist, registered play therapist-supervisor, and certified dog behavior consultant. 
  • Susan Friedman - Susan G. Friedman, Ph.D. is a professor emeritus in the Department of Psychology at Utah State University.
  • Peta Clarke - Peta has trained animals professionally for 20 years. She teaches courses at Taronga Zoo in Australia on animal care, behaviour and training while working as a consultant to zoos, vets, shelters and dog owners worldwide.
  • Veronica Boutelle is the former Director of Behavior & Training for the San Francisco SPCA. She's founder of dog*biz, a leading business support service for dog trainers.
  • Alexis Davison is a Karen Pryor Academy faculty member, and teaches the Dog Trainer Professional Program in Australia and New Zealand. She aslo runs her business Scholars in Collars.
  • Nicholas Bishop is currently the Manager of Nature Theatre at Zoos SA and has worked in the zoo world for the past 20 years, with a keen focus on birds and free flight presentations. 
Each year the APDT strives to deliver a conference packed full of new information, interesting and informative topics and world class speakers who will reinforce and update your skills, stretch or challenge your current beliefs.

An optional workshop on Thursday afternoon with Risë Van Fleet is a unique opportunity to learn about Working with Traumatised, Unsocialised Dogs.
