On Sunday 21st May 2017, Million Paws Walk will gather all dog lovers to make a stand for animals in need! Regular walk routes will be transformed into a celebration of man’s best friend and people like you will become the voice for animal welfare. It’s all about walking your way to a better world and a healthier you.

With over 20 locations across New South Wales alone, including Sydney Olympic Park, the Central Coast, Hunter and Illawarra, you're sure to find a great walk for you and your furry friend.

In Melbourne, the Albert Park Million Paws Walk event is a 5km walk around the lake, which is wheelchair and stroller friendly. This will be a festival of entertainment with dog agility demonstrations, dog washes, vet advice as well as many product and food stalls. The Paw Prints Trail is a great adventure through the "event village": for your chance to win an amazing hamper prize!

Registrations are now officially open and animal lovers are signing up across the country, but with a fundraising target of $375,000 for NSW alone, there is still a long way to go!

THE MILLION PAWS CHALLENGE

This year, a new addition is the Million Paws Challenge. Between 20 April – 20 May, the organisers are challenging you and your dog to walk one million paws!

Of course you can set your own personal goal or maybe decide to walk a million paws as a team. The Challenge is personal and you can choose your target. But if you do reach the target – what an achievement!

"The challenge introduces an element of competition to help motivate people to reach their fundraising goals, as well as important exercise goals for them and their four-legged friends" says Josie Sullivan, RSPCA SA Million Paws Walk Co-ordinator.

Even if you can't attend on the day you can still take up this challenge. Your dogs might be too boisterous, anxious or they might not be great on the leash. The Million Paws Challenge is still a great way to get you both fit whilst helping other animals in need even if you can’t make the event.

To take part in the challenge, participants should register at www.millionpawswalk.com.au/challenge and set a fitness and fundraising goal.

No pooch? No worries! Even those without pooches are welcome to join in the fun. There will be plenty to do on the day with lots of exhibitors, competitions and entertainment.

When: Sunday 21st May 2017 - Times will vary for each location
