Described as a "Tinder for pets", Zeppee is the most fun you will ever have finding your next lifelong companion. It's the first national app allowing you to buy, sell, adopt and more importantly rehome pets to good homes.
The "sell" part got us initially concerned as the last thing we want is to encourage backyard breeders when so many pets are already in need of a forever home. Founder Ben Burton assured us that all the animals profiled for sale come from registered breeders who have been thoroughly checked.
HOW DOES THE ZEPPEE APP WORK?
The best part is that it is FREE, and we found it extremely easy to use. It took us under five minutes to create our user profile, receive an email and confirm that we were not a robot. Then we were ready to login and start meeting one of the hundreds of pets currently featured on the App.
As the App automatically pinpoints your exact location using GPRS technology, you will be greeted by the closest suitable furry companions unless you opt for the advanced search.
You can already find a pet from Perth to Byron Bay, Darwin to Melbourne and anywhere in between! At this stage, we found we could only search for dogs, cats and rabbits but the app will feature horses and other pets in the future.

You can refine your search by pet breed, age, distance, category (Shelter, RSPCA, Breeder etc.) and much more!
All the rescue pets feature a pink Rescue Ribbon on their profile photos (top right corner) so they're very easy to spot!
You can swipe left to see the next pet or right for the ones that catch you eye (they will be stamped "Like") to be saved your favourites! You can review your selection later to narrow down your choices and discuss your options.
It potentially will save a lot of time navigating the various websites from local rescue shelters or driving to countless locations only to find out that the dog/cat you fell in love with is no longer available...
Once you've decided which pet(s) you'd like to apply for, it is extremely easy to get in touch with the shelter/breeder via email (or phone/SMS) at the touch of a button.
You can also use the Airdrop feature to share their profile with family/friends via SMS or email, which from our past experience with adoption processes sounds like a great time-saver!
WHAT WE LIKED LESS
At this point, you can review profiles for dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs so if you're looking for a pony, horse or reptile, you'll need to check the listings available down the track...
The main selling point of this app is the ability to select the proximity of the pets profiled (within a 50km to 500km radius) but to us, it could be worthwhile driving a long way to find the pet that is right for you...
When it comes to adoptions, the dogs/cats will often choose you rather than the other way around and for that to happen, you will still need to get into your car and drive to the shelter to meet them... The one you'll end up choosing to come home with you may be a complete surprise!

OUR VERDICT
As more rescue organisations jump on board (it is free for them as well as users) there is no doubt that this app will help spread the word to animal lovers and could potentially save the lives of countless animals.
Many shelters are being overwhelmed by the growing number of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens being rescued from pounds or surrendered directly. The quicker their profiles are visible to a larger audience, the more chances they have of finding a good home.
